Sterling Silver

Over the time, oxidation reactions will occur causing silver to become tarnished. Simply wearing your jewelry helps prevent, or at least slow the oxidation process, keeping your jewelry looking new. Silver jewelry should be stored separately in cloth pouches or a jewelry box.

Most of our silver jewelry is often finished with rhodium giving it the appearance of platinum; this coating is generally tarnish resistant. We recommend that you clean the piece with a polishing cloth. It is also acceptable to clean silver with a mild dish detergent in warm water, suing a soft toothbrush to clean stones. Use of toothpaste is not recommended to clean silver jewelry, as toothpaste contains small abrasive granules, which can leave scratches on your silver.

Watches

All watches are covered by the manufacturer for a period of at least one year. The warranty covers defective parts, experienced under normal wear and the labor required to repair them. If you did not receive a copy of the warranty for your watch at the sale, please contact our Customer Service Dept. who will be happy to provide you with a copy.
Please note that the warranties for all watch companies do not cover the crystal, band, strap, power cells or battery.

Gemstone Care and Treatment Guide

Some cleaning methods can actually harm your gemstones. Gemstones are sometimes treated to enhance color; hence, it is important to take the right steps to safeguard the beauty of your jewelry. For example, while cleaning jewelry at home, using of mild cleaners and boiling, not all gemstones can withstand the sudden change in temperature, resulting in fractures.

To ensure your gemstones retain their sparkle, read the following guide for gemstone care and cleaning.

Amethyst and Citrine

Many amethysts have their color enhanced by heat treatment. Brownish varieties of amethyst, when treated under heat, magically turn into the bright yellow or orange colored gemstone known as Citrine. These enhancements are stable and permanent under most conditions. Avoid boiling and ultrasonic cleaning, as strong heat may turn them colorless and cause fractures. Use a toothbrush and a gentle soap or a soft cotton cloth to clean your jewelry.

Aquamarine

Most aquamarines are greenish when mined; they are cut and then heat-treated to produce a permanent aqua-blue color. Never boil the gem, as some stones have liquid inclusions, which can burst upon heating. Use ultrasonic cleaning with care; To clean use a toothbrush with warm sudsy water.

Blue Topaz

Nature rarely produces topaz in a blue variety. After raw topaz is mined, it is irradiated to brown and then heated to get a rich sky blue color, which is a permanent process. Clean using a toothbrush with warm sudsy water. Avoid boiling and ultrasonic cleaning with caution.

Diamonds

Unique in the world of gemstones, the diamond is the hardest material. Generally safe to boil and to clean in an ultrasonic cleaner.

Black Diamonds

Naturally black colored, black diamonds are extremely rare. Often real white diamonds are permanently treated for a lush mid-night black color.  MySolitaireConcepts.com only sells heat-treated real black diamonds. Extreme heat may leave the stone colorless. Never boil or ultrasonic clean the Black Diamonds. To clean only use sudsy warn water and soft toothbrush.

Emeralds

Emeralds contain minute surface-reaching breaks that gem cutters fill with natural and man-made resin to soften and enhance the look of an emerald. Earlier, gem merchants in India sought to purify the color of emeralds by immersing them in clear oils; such treatments are still used today. All emeralds are fragile and need to be treated with extreme care. Only use a soft toothbrush with warm sudsy water to clean your jewelry. Avoid soaking, boiling and ultrasonic cleaning.

Garnet
Abrupt temperature change may cause fractures, so avoid thermal shock when boiling. Ultrasonic cleaners can be used with care.

Opals

Opals are commonly treated with smoke impregnation. Some opals are impregnated with oil, wax or epoxy to improve hardness and appearance. Opals are very sensitive to heat. Do not boil or use ultrasonic cleaning. Avoid all solvents and acids. Gently wipe your opals clean with a soft, damp cloth.

Pearls

Pearls are very soft and can be damaged by acids, hair spray and even perspiration. Apply perfume sparingly to skin that pearls will touch and never spray directly onto pearls. Do not boil or use ultrasonic cleaning. Gently wipe your pearls clean with a soft, damp cloth. They can also be washed periodically with a mild soap.

Peridot

Dark colored peridots are occasionally heat treated to bring out a lighter, more appealing hue. Stones can lose their color if they come in contact with harsh chemicals; ultrasonic machines should be avoided.

Rubies

For centuries, imperfections and impurities have been removed by controlled heating of rubies and such treatment is considered to be permanent. In the process of treating rubies in this way, fissures and cavities are sometimes filled with a glass-like substance which enhances transparency and seals up any surface-reaching pits or fractures. The safest method for cleaning your ruby is with a warm sudsy cloth, instead of using an ultrasonic cleaner or boiling.

Sapphire

Controlled heating is often used to improve their clarity and color and such treatment is permanent. Boiling and use of an ultrasonic cleaner are generally safe. Sapphire is one of the toughest and most durable gemstones.

Tanzanite

Tanzanite is acclaimed for its unique violet blue color. Virtually every tanzanite is heated to permanently change its color from orange-brown to the spectacular violet-blue color. No boiling, ultrasonic cleaning or steamers should ever be used. Always clean with a soft toothbrush and warm sudsy water.

Tanzanite is richin the mineral named Zoisite that gives it the stunning bluish-purplish hues making it appealing and truly unique. Its color is dominated by the blue color with the touch of lavender. Tanzanite is not a very expensive gemstone however its rare color has made it a craze. Though a pure blue color gem can be higher in price because of luster and brilliance.
